Filthy Loot is a postmodern horror press with an emphasis on minimalism and philosophical dread. We are the monsters, whether through corruption from within or a world falling apart around us. We prefer arthouse and lo-fi B-movie sleaze to anything resembling the mainstream of contemporary horror. Our goal is to combine existential, transgressive, and body-horror elements with ideas from modern art and philosophy, while creating work that rewards both immediate reading and deeper interpretation.

Talented Perverts is our imprint for what we call “aesthetic fiction”: indie lit, autofiction, alt-lit, minimalism, outsider fiction, avant-pop, and all the other buzzy little code words for those of us raised on Grove Press, late-night MTV, clove cigarettes, and Greg Araki.

CONTROL is our nonfiction imprint, publishing work that fits stylistically alongside Filthy Loot and Talented Perverts.

About The Size of Filthy Loot Books

We believe the pocket paperback is the pinnacle of culture. It takes other authors’ volumes to achieve what Camus did in under 40k words in The Stranger. Too long have presses worshiped at the altar of bloated mediocrity, great work should be a direct shock to the system.

Besides our 4×6” paperbacks, we also focus on zines, as they are a format of the people. Viva la… something something.
